The Final Stretch: Making the Most of Ramadan’s Last Days

As the blessed month of Ramadan nears its end, a sense of urgency fills the hearts of Muslims around the world. The days of fasting, prayer, and reflection have passed swiftly, and now we stand at the threshold of the final moments of this sacred time. But Ramadan is not over yet—there is still time to reach the goals we set at its beginning and to make the most of these precious remaining days.

Reflecting on Your Ramadan Goals

At the start of Ramadan, many of us set intentions—praying more, reciting the Quran daily, giving in charity, controlling our temper, or strengthening our relationship with Allah. Now is the perfect time to pause and reflect:

• Have I fulfilled the commitments I made at the start of the month?

• What areas have I succeeded in?

• Where do I still need improvement?

If you feel that you haven’t done enough, don’t be discouraged. The doors of mercy are still wide open, and the final days of Ramadan are an opportunity to finish strong.

Seizing the Last Days for Maximum Reward

The final days of Ramadan hold immense blessings and rewards, especially with the hidden treasure of Laylatul Qadr (The Night of Power). This night, which is better than a thousand months (Quran 97:3), is an opportunity for a lifetime of blessings in a single moment. Since we don’t know exactly which night it falls on, making an extra effort every night in these last days ensures we don’t miss its rewards.

Here’s how we can make the most of the remaining time:

  1. Increase Your Worship

Pray more, perform extra voluntary prayers (nafl), and seek closeness to Allah through sincerity in your acts of worship. Taraweeh and tahajjud prayers are powerful ways to strengthen your connection with Allah.

  1. Renew Your Intentions and Make Du’a

Now is the time to make heartfelt du’a. Ask for forgiveness, guidance, and strength. Pray for yourself, your family, and the entire Ummah. No prayer is too small or too big—Allah’s mercy is vast.

  1. Give in Charity

The rewards of giving in Ramadan are multiplied many times over. Whether it’s a small donation or a significant contribution, every act of charity counts. Consider giving sadaqah and make sure you’re paying your zakat if you haven’t already.

  1. Strengthen Relationships and Seek Forgiveness

Ramadan is not just about personal growth but also about mending relationships. If there is someone you need to forgive or seek forgiveness from, now is the time to do so. A pure heart will help carry the spiritual benefits of Ramadan beyond this month.

  1. Prepare for Life After Ramadan

The goal of Ramadan is not just a temporary boost in faith but lasting change. As we approach the end of this holy month, start thinking about how to carry these habits forward. What aspects of your Ramadan routine can you maintain throughout the year?

The Final Push: It’s Not Over Yet!

A true test of our sincerity in Ramadan is how we end it. Just like a marathon runner doesn’t slow down at the finish line, we should not lose momentum now. Push yourself a little more, pray a little longer, and give a little extra—every effort in these last days counts.

Ramadan is a gift, and its final moments are some of the most valuable. Let’s embrace them with gratitude, determination, and hope.

May Allah accept our fasting, prayers, and efforts, and may He grant us the strength to finish this Ramadan in the best possible way. Ameen.
